ArtsSmarts Quebec is a newly configured partner in Quebec.  Supported by the Association of Directors General of the English School Boards of Quebec (ADGESBQ) and its partners throughout the province,  ArtsSmarts Quebec is active in eight of the ten English school boards.  The partnership was created to take a systematic look through a research project at student engagement and student behaviour when curriculum is taught through the arts. ArtsSmarts Quebec has provided support for 16 projects in eight school boards through 2009-2010.  Results of the first year of the study will be available in the fall, but preliminary anecdotal information shows that students have made significant gains in engagement in their projects, in developing focus on the subject to be learned, in cooperating with their classmates, and in general, learning more readily through their artistic creations
