FutureNatureArchitecture

116 Ottawa students from three regional high schools came together for the 13th visual arts symposium entitled Future Nature Architecture. The key enquiry for the students at École Béatrice Desloges, École Secondaire Deslauriers and École de L'Escade was to explore sustainable architecture and the work and theories of Buckminster Fuller through the visual arts, poetry, video, sound art and sound creation, and writing.
Prior to this symposium, Marc Walter (an environmental and mixed media artist), Marie-France Thibault (a visual artist) and Shaun Ellie (a video artist) undertook five to eight day school residencies that finalized in multi-disciplinary installations at a local artist-run centre which was also open to the students' friends and families.
At the gallery, the students participated in workshops with sculptor Andre Martel and sound artist Dipna Horra.
"Right now I really do not want to leave here, it is really magical. There are so many things to explore and it is full of new different things. It's really fabulous and I wish I could stay here my whole life!" Iza-Belle, Grade 9
